For centuries, painted hardwood floors have delivered a colorful, unique, and durable approach under foot. This smart paint solution was discovered long ago especially for softer species like pine or fir. I, personally love a painted floor!
The beautiful white or soft gray options are reminiscent of the Swedish style while the darker colors take on a more traditional English approach. There are limitless choices for patterns and colors ranging from the geometric to the organic. Depending on the light source and condition of the wood, I like to recommend leaving some wood stained and some painted (shown in the image above) if the concept is merely decorative.
